I've made a lot of food posts, but I've laid claims to skills with the mixing of alcohols into tasty beverages, haven't I? So time to pony up, I think. And a Friday night would be a good time, don't you think?

 So, let it never be said that I didn't offer up my signature shot, the Power Drill, or a Birmingham favorite, the Grape Monster.

First, we'll start with the Grape Monster!

Take 1 part Grape Schapps, 2 parts Bacardi 151, cut with Sprite, and shake with ice. Strain into shot glass. Repeat. 

Annnd the Power Drill...you have a couple of options on this one.

This one, you can't really make just one. So!

For a shot: 1 part Bacardi Limon, 1 part Absolut Citron (or Smirnoff Orange), 1 part Gin. Shake with ice and a splash or two of orange juice, strain into shot glasses. Serve with a wedge of orange - shoot then suck, much like tequila with wheels.

The Power Drill also makes an excellent martini! Simply swap the orange juice out, shake in an equal part lemonade (pink for color and sweetness to counter the tart of the alcohol), strain into your martini glass and twirl in an orange peel. Yes, stick with the orange, not lemon or lime. You've got enough sour citrus with the Limon, gin, and lemonade.

Options on the Power Drill can include:

• regular rum, exclude the gin, double the orange juice, and add a splash of Cointreau.
• A splash of grenadine in the lemonade martini variation, topped with a cherry or three with the orange peel will please the most discerning socialite.
• For the adventurous? Float a tablespoon of 151 on the shot, light it, put it out, and slam it.  

And a bonus shot for you.

Absolut Vanilla, Orange juice, and a splash of Cointreau, chased with Dr. Pepper - the classic Dreamsicle, Southern Style.
